The Greater Essex County District School Board, has voted against hosting school events at the Caboto Club.

The motion to not host school events at the Caboto Club was passed unanimously by the GECDSB on March 21. The school board will not be hosting events there until the club changes its policy of excluding women from serving at the Caboto Clubs board.

The Caboto Club has received some backlash for their membership rule which does not allow women to become full voting members. This rule also led to Premier of Ontario Kathleen Wynne canceling her town hall meeting at the Caboto Club on Feb. 15.

The proclaimed “boycott” motion was brought forward by trustee Jessica Sartori and was supported by five other trustees.
