Members of the well-known Scottish rock band Atlas: Empire say they are excited to be touring again in Windsor.

The Green Bean Café has hosted events for the band in the past, but this time band members have more energy, a Canadian bassist, new experiences to share through their music, a new album soon to be released and a new music video. According to Robert Hasebe, the bassist. It is going to be a big night for the café and its customers.

The band, from Glasgow, Scotland is made up of two vocalists and one Canadian who joined the group in 2017. It was originally a two-man band with Jamie Sturt and Steven Gillies both wanting to create their own music in 2011. Since then their music has evolved over the years, according to Gillies.

The band’s latest music has been about society and technology and whether or not “the system” failed. Their past EP was about different layers of sleep; ultimately, they write their music based off personal experiences. When Hasebe joined the band, he had a new perceptive, being from another country and having different cultural views. So, they then began to make their second album.

Hasebe, 33, is excited to be returning to his homeland for the tour.

“This will be our fourth tour in Canada, “said Hasebe. Musicians here are good and a lot of the promoters we’ve hooked up with are, respective to what we do. A lot of people say…, we fit more into the North American mosaic of bands.

Gillies, 35, is the band’s vocalist. He also plays guitar and said his role in the band has its challenges.

“It’s amazing. I think there’s a lot of myths about what happens when you go on tour,” said Gillies. “We got a couple of days off on this tour, we had a couple of days off in Ukraine and Kiev which was nice. You get to go out and see what the cities are like. We meet all sort sorts of weird and wonderful people,” said Gillies.

One of the support bands playing at the cafe said they knew Atlas : Empire were performing in Canada and wanted them to perform at the Green Bean.

Expect to hear loud music throughout the night, meaningful lyrics to rock out to and some awesome tracks. The band describe their music as post rock/ post hardcore mixed with late 90s emo, a modern approach to progressive rock music.
