Snowstorm hits Windsor and other cities of Southern Ontario
The southern part of Ontario will see heavy snowfall this weekend.
Snowfall with total of 15-20 cm has already hit Chatham-Kent- Rondeau Park, Windsor-Essex, St. Thomas- Aylmer- Eastern Elgin County, Rodney- Shedden- Western Elgin County.
Driving conditions have deteriorated because of the snow overnight and has also lead to several road accidents.
According to Environment Canada, snow was forecast to continue Friday and taper off overnight. Motorists are advised to adjust travel plans accordingly as commuting will be affected.
Gary Archibald, meteorologist at CTV Windsor, said Environment Canada only issues a warning when something is more than likely to happen or is already happening.
“Snowfall has moved out further east of extreme southwest Ontario towards 8-9 p.m. locally. It is pretty much a whole day event. Relatively speaking, we are talking about the long stream of active weather,” said Archibald.
Archibald also said it is dangerous to commute on because there are icy patches on the roadways.
