Some effort means the world to others

A Windsor singer is volunteering her time and skills to support a baby with Apert Syndrome.
Apert Syndrome is a genetic disorder that causes abnormal growth of the head, face, hands and feet. During pregnancy, the skull bones join together too early, which prevents them from growing normally. According to BC Children’s Hospital one in 65,000 to 88,000 children are born with Apert Syndrome.
Rebecca Mickle, 26, a singer and university professor is in the process of creating a CD in honour of Christina Mickle, a two-year-old baby who was born with Apert Syndrome.
“My goal is to make 200 CDs and then selling those at $20 each,” said Mickle
Mickle has been working on this project for eight months at Diesel Dungeon Studio in Windsor. She is hoping to get the project completed soon.
“I would like to see it fully recorded hopefully in the next month or two,” she said. “The donations from the past basket raffle at Amherstburg farmers market will go towards producing the actual CDs.”
Christina sees developmental pediatric specialists on a regular basis.
“Christina has now been documented as ‘globally delayed’ and is therefore behind in all areas and especially with speech. She has been diagnosed with Mixed Receptive-Expressive Language Disorder,” said Allen Mickle, Christina’s father.
All proceeds collected after producing the CD will go to Christina’s family to assist them in paying different costs, including baby sitters, physical therapy and travel costs.
