Canadian women strike gold!

The Canadian women’s hockey team made an incredible comeback from a 2-0 deficit to eventually win 3-2 in overtime capturing their fourth straight Olympic gold medal against their rival American counterparts.

Marie-Philip Poulin was Canada’s golden girl scoring, the tying goal with less than a minute left in the game forcing overtime. Eight minutes into the extra frame she sealed the deal for Canada claiming her second gold medal.

Through 56 minutes of the game the U.S. held a two goal lead on tallies from Meghan Duggan and Alex Carpenter.

Canada seemed to be on the brink of elimination when Brianne Jenner made a nifty move to the middle of the ice and her shot banked off an American defender and found the back of the net.

Canada rocks Olympics with curling sweep.

The Canadian women’s Olympic curling team claimed gold against team Sweden with a steal of two points in the ninth frame.

The women’s team of Jennifer Jones, Jill Officer, Kaitlin Lawes and Dawn McEwen defeated Sweden’s Margaretha Sigfridsson with a 6-3 final.

Jones adds a gold medal to her already impressive resume along with her 2008 World Championship as well as four Canadian titles.

The Canadian men’s curling team from Sault St. Marie Ontario also claimed gold with a 9-3 victory over Great Britain.

The men’s team took control of the game early. In the first four frames Canada held a 6-1 lead over their British counterparts.

Brad Jacobs, Ryan Fry and brothers EJ Harnden and Ryan Harnden become the third different men’s team to win a gold medal in as many Olympics.
