Jr. nobles team champions
The Belle River Nobles junior football team were crowned champions at the Allies Bowl on Nov. 17 when they defeated the Villanova Wildcats. Running back Austin Holland who tallied 223 rushing yards and a touchdown while Liam O’ Halloran returned a fumble for a 60 yard score. Griffin Fenton kicked two field goals and converted all six extra points. The Nobles concluded their season winning seven of their last eight games.
OFSAA basketball
Windsor-Essex County are hosting the 2016 Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association high school girls basketball tournament that tipped off Nov. 25.
In the AAA action, the host Holy Names Knights fell 60-40 to Newmarket. Tiarra Davis had 17 points in the Knights effort.
The Kingsville Cavaliers are providing the home for the AA tournament and debuted with a 48-37 victory over Mother Theresea. Aleisha Longmuir had 14 points for the Cavs while Melody Young and Trinity Buchenauer each added 12 points.
At the ‘A’ level, the fifth seed Lajeunesse Royals defeated Rainy River 53-32 in front of a home crowd . Asina Wabisa led the Royals with 12 points.
OFSAA volleyball
In AAA the Kennedy Clippers fell two sets to one on home court for their opening game against Oakridge.
St. Joseph Lasers traveled to Kenora for OFSAA AA volleyball. The Lasers dropped their first contest two sets to one against Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute in their opening game.
Harrow Hawks visited Toronto for the OFSAA ‘A’ who were sweeped in their opening contest against University of Toronto Schools. The Hawks have two more games in pool play against Smithville and Toronto District Christian High School.
