St. Clair educator may win at film festival
A documentary produced by a St. Clair College educator may win big.
Irene Moore Davis is the manager of continuing education at St. Clair College. She is also an executive producer of The North Was Our Canaan, a documentary chronicling the importance of Windsor’s Sandwich area to anti-slavery.
In the process of producing the film, Moore said one of the challenges was adapting stories from spoken word into a movie format.
“I learned how important it is to make sure that we coach people to share their stories succinctly so that it can be caught on film. Some of these stories are very long and detailed,” said Moore Davis.
The film has been nominated for three awards at the International Black and Diversity Film Festival. These include Best Director, Best Short Documentary and Best Canadian Short Documentary.
Winners will be announced June 26, 2021.
