Students from St. Clair College came out to audition for the Atelier fashion show in late March at the Student Life Centre. The auditions took place on Tuesday March 27 and were open to all students of the college. Students could be evaluated on their performance.

After prepping the models and having them walk the runway, coordinator Dee-Dee Shkreli and her staff observed each student individually to see if they met the criteria organizers were looking for. Shkreli has been the lead coordinator for Atelier through St. Clair College for a number of years.

“We took their measurements, all their contact information and we also snapped their photo. We have a model book, so we put all the models in that model book. We do get a lot of models who have experience already, but we also get some newcomers as well,” said Shkreli.

The tryouts this year were held at the Ford Centre for Excellence which is where anything to do with fashion, design, clothing or the creative arts generally runs their programming.

Branden Lee-Hyman is a student in fashion and design who said the tryouts presented an interesting feel and look this year.

“There was a lot of diverse looks, a lot of different sizes. I thought it was pretty cool that some people had the actual knowledge of what a real casting crew should look like so that was cool,” said Lee-Hyman.

Tickets for the show can be purchased at the fashion design lab in the Ford building on main campus and also online at www.eventbright.ca.
