The college experience of some newly arrived international St. Clair students is different due to COVID-19.

St. Clair College is reputed for its large body of international students. However, COVID-19 restrictions have altered the manner in which international students attend classes.

Karan Bakshi, a first-year Indian student of hospitality-hotel and restaurant, said the experience of joining St. Clair was quite challenging.

“I was asked to quarantine for 14 days after arriving in Canada. [Continuously] wearing the mask created a breathing problem for me. Also, we were not habitual with online learning,” said Bakshi.

Bakshi also said that his teacher was incredibly supportive in making him more comfortable with the new environment.

“The teachers were very helpful,” said Bakshi. “They were always available for my assistance and regularly checked up on me. This helped me a lot.”

Over 3,500 international students are expected to join in this academic year, according to the Windsor Star.
