Stolen vehicle involved in multi-vehicle collision
A 29-year-old Windsor man is behind bars after leading police on a foot chase from the scene of a multi-vehicle accident involving a stolen car.
On Nov. 3, police responded to reports of a stolen white Ford Fusion on Banwell Road around 11:20 p.m. About 20 minutes later, they received reports of a multi-vehicle collision on Tecumseh Road East involving the stolen vehicle.
When officers arrived, they found the Ford, along with two other heavily-damaged vehicles.
According to Const. Talya Natyshak, witnesses pointed out a male suspect fleeing the area on foot.
“An officer pursued the suspect who was subsequently arrested without incident,” said Natyshak. ” A quantity of suspected narcotics was located in possession of the suspect.”
Natyshak said the drivers of the two other vehicles and a passenger were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Through further interaction with the suspect, officers believed the suspect to be impaired by the previous consumption of a drug and had him transported to hospital as well.
He has since been charged with theft of motor vehicle, dangerous driving, impaired operation of motor vehicle (by drug), possession of stolen property over $5,000 and possession of a controlled substance.
