Storage locker drug bust

Windsor police have discovered $600,000 worth of marijuana and weapons in two units at Guardian Storage on Rhodes Drive.
Sgt. Mike Comelli of the Drugs, Intelligence, Guns and Surveillance unit said they gained information about the two units following an arrest the previous Thursday.
“We executed a search warrant on his car,” said Comelli. “We found a key in the car for a storage locker in that storage facility and that’s what led us there.”
Comelli said Windsor police had executed eight search warrants over the previous week which included this vehicle. In the vehicle police also found a pellet pistol, which Comelli said would give patrol officers great cause for concern if they happened to stop the vehicle.
“They would treat it as a real gun, as I would,” said Comelli.
In one of the units searched, officers found three suitcases. In the second unit was another set of three suitcases, two handguns and a pistol-grip shotgun.
“So far one person has been charged with possession of the guns and possession of marijuana,” said Comelli.
“We’ve been receiving info about this person for quite some time,” said Comelli. “It’s just a matter of putting things together.”
To keep the smell of the marijuana from being noticed, the drugs had been vacuum sealed inside a sleeve which had also been vacuum-sealed.
Comelli said the storage facility has been fantastic with them.
“They’re cooperating,” said Comelli. “We’ve gotten video from them and it confirms a lot of what we know.”
Comelli speculated that the drugs originated in British Columbia and said they will be doing follow-ups with police there.
