Stress Relief

The journey through the continuing COVID-19 pandemic has been hard on everyone, and dealing with the virus, school, work, and just life in general can be stressful. Here are some tips when you are feeling overwhelmed or stressed to help you relax and feel okay again.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by a situation, take a rest and listen to calm and relaxing music. This has a positive effect on the brain and body, it helps lower blood pressure, and it reduces cortisol (a stress hormone). Don’t know where to start? Here are a few relaxing songs: Sunset Lover by Petit Biscuit, Riptide by Vance Joy, and Right by Mac Miller. Make a playlist of your favourite relaxing songs for stressful situations!

Exercise is really important to not only our physical health but also our mental health, but you don’t have to be in the gym everyday throwing around weights and running marathons to help manage your stress. Exercise can be yoga, aerobics, going for a bike ride, or doing an at-home Youtube workout. Regular exercise reduces the negative effects of stress by improving your mood, self-confidence, and lower symptoms of mild anxiety.

Make sure you are taking care of yourself during the Pandemic, self-care is important. School, work, and friends are important but we need to remember to take a step back to relax before we get burnt out.
