Students have the chance to show their talent to future bosses.

Ford has partnered with St. Clair College to give students the chance to show future employers their capabilities. The event is designed to showcase students from all programs to high-level industry executives. According to the press release, the evaluation is subjective as this is not about creating new capstone projects or opportunities but it is more like a job interview. This is all about what students have worked on, whether it’s a capstone or other projects, so they have something to present to the industry partners to demonstrate their capabilities as well as their presentation skills.

Susan Taylor, the supervisor at St. Clair’s Genesis Centre, said that the one main goal is to get the students noticed.

“The goal is to showcase our students and have them get access to high-level executives, from different companies and industry partners through the college and get them some jobs, get them building their soft skills, they have a chance to win some money and show their innovative abilities,” said Taylor.

The 20 teams chosen will submit a final five-minute presentation prior to the main event where they will have two minutes for questions and answers after their presentation is aired. Prize packages available to the event winners.

Albert Sharp, a student at St. Clair College, feels pretty good about his chances.

“I feel confident that I will at least make it past this first round,” said Sharp. “I have no idea what other people are putting forward, but I think what I am putting forward is a high-quality product that has good production value put into it and I genuinely do believe the people who looking at it will be impressed with what they see.”

Presentations will be on April 27 from nine to three, and event participants are asked to pre-register before attending.
