Sunrise Records has taken over the Devonshire Mall.

Musical record chain Sunrise Records was founded in 1977 in Toronto, and now it has taken the prime real estate previously held by HMV records in the mall.

The Devonshire location has been in business since May, but the grand opening celebration is this weekend since all 80 locations around the country will be in full swing at that time.

Stuart Tipper, manager of the Sunrise Records store in Windsor, said there is still a large market for physical CDs and vinyls.

“The demographic of our customers is everything from 10 years-old to 80,” said Tipper.

“The best-selling vinyl last year was Taylor Swift…so it’s not just middle-aged men looking to complete their classic rock collection.”

Tipper also added their selection has “drastically increased” in their audio selection, including CD and vinyls. The celebration this weekend will include independent bands who can sell their work through Sunrise Records stores nationwide.
