Michael Chantler, assistant manager at Adventure Bay Family Water Park, speaks with reporter Harshpal Singh on the upcoming Swim with Santa.

Santa is inviting the public to join him as he jumps into the swimming pool.

On Dec. 9, Santa and his team of lifeguards – or “elves” – will return to Adventure Bay Family Water Park for the 3rd annual Swim with Santa.

Santa will be entertaining and posing for pictures with kids in the lobby of Adventure Bay from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Afterwards, Santa will splash his way into the water park from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

“It’s one time of the year that gets everybody in the festive spirit,” said assistant manager Michael Chantler. “We’re encouraging everyone to go into the water park for a nice healthy, active day.”

This celebration of the holiday season at Adventure Bay is one of their highest attended events.

“Last year, we had about 900 people that came out for the event. It would be nice to see 900 to 1000 people (this year),” said Chantler.

The event is free for those who wish to meet Santa in the lobby. For those who want to jump into the pool with Santa, swimmers can expect to pay a $10 fee regardless of age or height. The fee will be waived for children under three.

Standard concessions and colouring stations will also be available.

For more information, contact Adventure Bay Family Water Park on Facebook or through their website.
