Teen charged with murder after family argument turns violent
A 19-year-old Windsor man is facing a charge of second-degree murder after a family dispute resulted in the stabbing death of a 25-year-old Windsor man.
The slaying is the tenth homicide in Windsor so far this year. There were three homicides last year and the year prior. There were four in 2015.
Police were called to 274 Giles Boulevard East shortly after 4:30 a.m. Thursday. Witnesses were gathered around a man on the ground, who appeared to be suffering from a stab wound, said police.
He was rushed to hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Police say the suspect and victim are related to each other and that the dispute began as a family argument.
Police forensic identification officers combed the scene for evidence. Blood stains could be seen on a glass door and a blood-covered jacket could be seen on the front porch.
Yellow police tape secured the duplex. McDougall Street was closed to traffic for more than six hours.
Neighbour Kaitlyn Winsor said she was scared when she heard screams pierce the morning quiet. She said police were on the scene quickly. She agreed with police the incident was no cause for public alarm.
“This kind of crime wasn’t so related to Windsor’s rising crime rate,” she said.
Neighbour John Alice, 59, said he was not concerned with the number of homicides this year.
“It’s been worse before, it is not bad,” he said.
Police arrested the suspect without incident about 5:30 a.m. in the 2100 block of Church Street.
