For so many people, animals make everything better, and one local cat rescue is banking on that to increase the chances of their furry friends finding forever homes.

Moggy’s Mission has merged events like yoga with the “awww”someness of playful kittens in the past. They are now hoping that the excitement surrounding the yoga will extend to their new event taking place Jan. 26 -27, Essex County’s first Cat Café.

“Cat Cafés are becoming popular around the globe. They are quite literal in the sense that, it is a cafe atmosphere surrounded by cats,” said Amanda Scully from Moggy’s Mission. “In our situation, all of the cats are rescues and adoptable.”

They are hoping that people will come and enjoy some music and games with a friendly cat over an endless cup of coffee and a snack.

“We will have adoptable and adorable cats at the event. Interested applicants can fill out adoption applications online while enjoying a coffee with the kitties which is pretty neat,” said Scully.

“Any animal rescue, shelter, advocacy organization are always looking for people to give. Thinking creatively is always a good way to do that,” said Melanie Coulter, executive director of the Windsor-Essex County Humane Society.

Merging animals with food is not as easy as it sounds — there are regulations that have to be followed. Rest assured, said organizers, these regulations have been adhered to.

“Because we are serving food and beverages, we have to follow regulations for obvious hygienic purposes. The main one is that we are serving the food and drinks in a completely separate room from the cats. Once our guests have their food, they can take it with them for enjoyment into the “cat room,” said Scully.

So if you are fee-line a little frisky, be sure to check out Moggy’s Mission’s Pawp up Cat Café.
