The Gift of the Magi to help recovering addicts in Windsor
The gift of love is at the centre of play being performed by the Upper Stage Theatre this holiday season.
The Gift of the Magi, a play that was adapted for stage by Jon Jory, tells the story of Della and Jim, who are desperately in love and want to make each other’s Christmas dreams come true; however, they are very poor. Despite this, the pair eventually learn about the most important gift of all: love.
The play is a collaboration with the Windsor Life Centre.
Katie Corchis, an actress in the play as well as a worker for Windsor Life, said they offer a lot of help for women in need of their services.
“Windsor Life Centre is a six-12 month residential recovery home for woman recovering from drug and alcohol addiction,” said Corchis.
Corchis also said they help women after completion of their recovery program with things such as preparing to return to their families and the work world.
The Gift of the Magi will show six times at the Windsor Christian Fellowship church during November and December. Tickets are available online through the Centre’s website.
