The Patriots Super Bowl win breaks multiple records
The New England Patriots have once again been crowned the Super Bowl champions for the sixth time, beating the Los Angeles Rams 13 to 3.
The win ties New England with the Pittsburgh Steelers for number of Super Bowl titles while also extending their record for the most ever by a head coach and starting quarterback combination — in Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.
New England Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady becomes the only player to win six Super Bowls, while also being the oldest quarterback to achieve the feat. Brady has now played in more super bowls than any other player in the NFL, starting nine final games behind centre.
“You never know how it’s going to be, you can never predict anything, that’s why we play this sport, we tried to make the best opportunity out of everything so really appreciate the guys on the team, it just did not go our way,” said L.A. Rams player Todd Gurley during the press conference after the game.
Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman won the MVP award for his efforts, which included 10 catches for 141 total yards.
“It’s an absolute honor to get this award, but honestly I am just so proud of the group of guys we had this year,” Edelman told reporters.
Tom Brady indicated he’s not ready to hang up his cleats just yet — which signals a possible return by the 41-year-old next season.
