Theft of collection plate leads to chase

A 40-year-old Leamington woman is facing charges after a collection plate went missing from a local First Baptist Church.

OPP Windsor said a woman entered the church, stole the collection plate and then fled. Although members of the congregation who gave chase said they last saw the woman in an alley near the church, most of the money was subsequently recovered.

The woman is charged with theft under $5,000 and breach of probation.
