Olympics
The Olympics start Thursday with curling mixed doubles’ round-robin sessions and Friday with men’s and women’s freestyle skiing to highlight the day. The first day with medals awarded is Feb. 10, with the biathlon, cross country skiing, short track speed skating, ski jumping and speed skating starting off the medal competitions.
Basketball
The St Clair College women’s basketball team dropped their only game of the past week, losing of 82-58 against Fanshawe College.
St Clair’s men’s basketball team also lost their only game of the week, 71-69 against Fanshawe.
The Windsor Express went 1-1 in their back-to-back games against the St. John’s Edge winning 118-102 and losing 111-100.
The Windsor Lancers women’s basketball team faces off against the Algoma Thunderbirds tonight at the University of Windsor.
Hockey
The Windsor Spitfires’ struggles continue with the Spits losing both their games this week. The Spits lost by a score of 6-3 to the Oshawa Generals on Feb 4. with Cole Purboo scoring two goals. Windsor also was defeated by the Guelph Strom by a close score of 4-3 on Feb. 8 with Luke Boka scoring a goal and leading the team with five shots on net. This makes seven losses in a row for the Spitfires with their last win coming on Jan. 21.
