Transit Windsor replacing 24 buses
Transit Windsor has a good news for people who use public transportation: it has received funding to purchase 24 new buses to replace its aging fleet.
These new buses come with a price tag of $12.5 million.
Riders hope this will help decrease the problem of overcrowding on buses and maybe put a few extra buses on the road.
“It’s good we would have new and more efficient buses. There is a lot of overcrowding problems — I hope it decreases with that,” said Rishab Aggrawal, a passenger and student.
Shelly Kaur, who is a regular passenger, agreed.
“It has happened many times with me that I am waiting for a bus and it passes by having the “not in service” sign. Recently I have seen an increase in number of buses with this sign. I am glad we have new buses now which would be efficient for us,” she said.
The new buses will also have many updated features.
Pat Delmore of Transit Windsor said the new buses are efficient and environmentally friendly.
“The new buses have cleaner emissions than the ones we are taking off (the road),” he said.
Delmore adds this is a good way to attract new riders by having a clean and new fleet. The buses will also reduce repair costs.
