Transit Windsor seeking 9.7 per cent budget increase
Transit Windsor is requesting a 9.7 percent increase in funding for 2019.
Transit Windsor is projecting a $1.1 million deficit this year because of rising fuel prices, which are $615,000 more than forecast, and surging demand from St. Clair College students.
The increased funding request will be discussed during city council’s upcoming operating budget deliberations.
Transit Windsor has a plan to deal with the surge in student riders, which has led to increased maintenance and overtime costs along with increased ridership revenues.
