Since Transit Windsor changed its schedules due to staff shortages, several riders have had to accommodate.

Some buses start earlier than before and others don’t have as many stops. The enhanced schedule was put in place after the city experienced staffing changes due to its vaccine requirements, resulting in a shortage of bus drivers.

Since the schedules changed, some riders have had to change their schedule to accommodate the changes.

“I have to wake up really early now to get to school, it’s just a hassle because in the winter it was cold and I had to wait for 20 minutes for the bus,” said Jocelyn Carrier, a high school student at St. Annes Catholic Secondary School.

Carrier is not the only one to have these problems.

“During exam times I sometimes feel that I have to get the earlier bus, so it is sometimes problematic,” said Kadul Patel, a student at St. Clair College.

During these past few months, Transit Windsor has also raised the prices for a regular bus ride multiple times. In December, the fare was $3 and is now $3.15.

Transit Windsor appears to be raising the fare prices for the Tunnel Bus as well. The pre-pandemic fare was $5 and the Transit Windsor website indicates it will be raised to $7.50. As of today, Transit Windsor has not indicated when Tunnel Bus service will resume. It has been suspended since March 2020.

Currently, there is no indication as to when the buses will go back to their regular schedule.
