Transit Windsor’s new west-end terminal begins serving the public Friday.

City council approved the location of the new bus terminal, despite concerns from neighbourhood residents and transit users regarding traffic congestion. It is estimated that over 200 buses a day will pass by homes across the street from the new terminal.

The bus terminal has been moved to the campus of Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare on Prince Road at a cost of $1.6 million.

Hotel-Dieu Grace is providing the location for $1 a year, with full access to its washrooms, cafeteria and snack bar. The federal government has given $100,000 towards the project.

The Transway 1C, Crosstown 2, South Windsor 7 and the Central 3 routes all service the new terminal.
