U of W students vote against sports complex renovations
According to the unofficial results of the Lancer Sport and Recreation Centre referendum, University of Windsor students will not help pay for the school’s proposed $72 million athletic complex renovations.
Although more than half of the full-time students and more than half of the part-time students voted in favour of the proposed renovations, the Graduate Student Society voted 302-254 against. In total, 52 per cent of the students were for the renovations but for the proposal to pass, all three groups had to be in favour.
More than 4,500 students took part in the vote held on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.
Had the proposal passed, students would have been charged a new fee of $125 per year starting in 2019.
