University students and the general public will have to wait until the new year to see inside Windsor’s old Armouries, which has been converted into the School of Creative Arts.

The University of Windsor has postponed the opening to make sure the buildings are ready to be operational for the start of upcoming classes.

“The primary focus of the university is to get all the programs and facilities ready to open in January,” said John Coleman, public affairs and communications officer with the U of W.

“The university regrets this unexpected delay, and looks forward to welcoming the community to a public opening that will showcase not only the spectacular new facilities, but also the creative work going on within them,” read a news release.

The opening had been planned for Dec. 1, but the university said all spaces in the new buildings, including the music performance hall, still needed to be fully cleaned.

The building will be open for tours to the public in new year, although the dates have not been released.
