University strike is effecting WEST

The Windsor Essex Swim Team is unable to practice at the St. Denis Center due to the CUPE 1393 strike.

With some of the university workers on strike, the St. Denis Center pool is now closed, leaving the WEST swimmers to find a new pool were they can practice.  The swimmers are currently practicing at Riverside Secondary School.

“It’s inconvenient because we have to have practice later in the night and when I have a test or homework to do, I’m not getting home at a decent time.  I really hope that we can swim at the other pool again soon,” said swimmer Kylie Jacqueline.

The strike is ongoing with negotiations in progress.

University president, Allan Wilderman, was unavailable for comment.
