Unlit licence plate leads to drug and gun arrest

A 22-year-old Windsor man has been charged with eight firearm related offences and six drug possession offences following an arrest on Tuesday, Jan. 15.
At around 8:30 p.m., Windsor police noticed a vehicle on Tecumseh Road East near Howard Avenue driving without a rear licence plate light, which is an offence under the Highway Traffic Act.
After stopping the driver, identified later as Hussein Al Hayawi, police discovered approximately 300 grams of suspected cannabis, 50 grams of suspected cocaine and 20 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine.
The charges against Hayawi include possession of suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, oxycodone and cannabis for purpose of trafficking.
