The Leamington Flyers underwent a major face lift during the off-season.

The junior ‘B’ hockey team has been given a total overhaul with new owners, players, staff and new jerseys. With new changes comes new challenges and adaptations that these players are enduring throughout the season.

Garrett Fodor is the team’s video coach and is also in charge of team communications. He is a witness to the changes, having been on the staff since 2017 he said he is very excited about a potential deep playoff run with the new look in the organization.

“The start of the season went well, obviously we have a whole new coaching staff. I have worked with both Sinclair and Crowder before in Essex and I am confident in their abilities as well as the team as a group,” said Fodor.“We have a lot of talent and OHL drafted players who are aspiring to play higher and they have the ability to do so.”

“The season is long, so come February we will be a completely different team and hopefully in the midst of a deep playoff run,” said Fodor who has worked in hockey for the last eight years.

“I am enjoying the changes we made to the team, personnel and the updated look to the team on the ice and behind the scenes. I can not speak for everyone but we have undergone a lot ofchanges and I feel it has benefited us, especially in our rink in Leamington.”

Defenseman Levi Tetrault serves as the Flyers captain after coming to the Flyers last season with over 150 games of OHL experience Tetrault plays defensemen for the Flyers and is confident in the team’s abilities.

“Nothing is gonna come easy for us. We got the talent in this room to do it and a lot of younger guys who are willing to play at a higher level,” said Tetrault.

“We have a young team coming in, we have a whole new ownership, coaches and a whole new system to adapt to, said Tetrault so It’s definitely gonna be a learning process for us and a young team moving forward but we’ve all adapted really well and things are looking forward to us,” said Tetrault.

The Flyers have a  record of 6-2-1-2 (wins, losses, tie, losses) which is good enough for second place in the Western Confrence of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.

You can catch the Flyers at the Kinsmen Sports Complex with puck drops around 7 p.m.
