Business has been interrupted at a LaSalle hair salon after a hole was punched in the building by a car driven by a young man.

Shortly after 1:30 p.m. Nov. 22, he drove his van into the Magic Comb salon located 5852 Malden Rd. in LaSalle, taking out a window and part of a wall.

A crowd gathered immediately after the crash. Witnesses say the mother, who was sitting in the passenger seat of the van, stepped out and apologized to the crowd. No one was hurt in the accident.

“In 33 years nothing has ever happened like this,” said Helen Mitroussis, one of the owners of the Magic Comb.

Mitrsoussis was at a nearby bank when the accident occurred. She said there are usually customers siting in front of the window that was shattered but fortunately there were no customers inside at the time of the accident.

“We’re going to put up a temporary wall today so that can still ruin their business,” said Andy Kincaid, a carpenter from Alpine Construction.

Kincaid said “these happen about once a month,” and it shouldn’t take long until the wall and the window are fixed.

Mike Mancini, 19, arrived at the scene right after the accident.

“The police came and stuff. It was just craziness,” said Mancini, a University of Windsor student. “I went into Subway to grab a sub and I came out and the police were there.”
