The new legislation proposed by the province of Ontario is looking to treat vapourizers and related products similar to the way tobacco is being regulated.

The government of Ontario has put legislation forward, but has a more aggressive stance on vaping that was supposed to be in effect in January 2016.

Vapoirizers are handheld battery-powered devices that vapourize a liquid that is then inhaled by the user. The “eliquid” can contain nicotine, which is one of the reasons they will soon be treating this product like tobacco. According to an evidence based review conducted by Public Health England vapourizers are 95 per cent less harmful than smoking.

Smoke Free Pennsylvania urges the American Health Department to stop lying about life saving vape products.

Among the new laws to be introduced by this legislation will be a section regarding people interested in testing vape products before they buy them. They will no longer be allowed to test them, unless the testing is hidden from the public, which will require modification of the business windows.

According to projectvape.com “ejuice” is the combination of vegetable glycerin, propylene glycol, and flavourings.

Don Carmen, an employee of Vape Vine in Windsor said, “I am all for the restrictions to prevent minors from vaping.”

However, said Carmen, he believes more unbiased scientific research should be done in regard to the effects of vaping before more decisions are made.

“Child-proof containers would be a good idea,” said Carmen.

The government of Ontario has since put this piece of legislation on hold, but there are plans for the legislation to become more aggressive in the future. The original date for this to be put into place was January 2016.

With legislation currently on hold, vape customers and merchandisers may continue to see changes throughout the next couple of months.
