It’s been 13 days since a garage fire at Westcourt Place forced people from their homes. More than 200 tenants have been out the building due to a lack of hydro, water and heat.

According to a Nov. 22 post by Windsor Fire Services, the fire has been listed as accidental caused by an electrical failure in the underground parking garage but there is no damage estimate yet.

A post by the property manager, Vickie Heyden, said that the clean up are currently ongoing to get people back to their apartments.

“Duct work and hallways are being cleaned throughout the building. We are removing all the ceiling tiles in the halls. They are cleaning all the smoke and dust throughout the building. This is all being done this week,” said Heyden.

There is still no date as to when tenants can return to their homes.

“Once this is done, we will wait for the reports from the hygienist. I will have huge updates for everyone on when you can come home, as soon as the information is available to me,” said Heyden.
