Will-songs
I have been singing and loving music since before I was able to talk. My family has videos upon videos of me dancing and singing at the bottom of the stairs of my house and random spots out in public. I was not a shy kid by any means.
Not only was music just something that I loved but it was also something that was therapeutic. I struggled immensely with anxiety and public speaking (I still do), and musical expression was something that helped me develop coping skills and confidence. In more ways than one music has been my saviour.
I remember many days of getting off work and being absolutely exhausted. I’m telling you right now, the only medicine that lifted my mood was music. You can bet the whole way home I was blasting it. The ringing of the guitar and bass. The sound of the melody and harmonies blending into a beautiful organised mess. That love for music, I want to help others find and experience!
I want to share one of the songs I’ve been listening to recently. It’s a pop song called Pessimist and is sung by American artist Julia Micheals. It’s by far one of my favourite songs. No matter how horrible your mood is, I guarantee it will get you smiling. The best way I can describe it is Hiraeth, which is a new word I learnt. The word is Welsh meaning the longing to return to something or someone. I think the song held that feeling really well, which resonated so well with me. With that said, I definitely recommend giving the song a listen! It’s an absolute ear worm.
