Windsor border officers share a slice of hope with Detroit workers
As the United States government shutdown has reached the 32-day mark, making it the longest in U.S. history.
Many government workers considered “essential” are still working throughout the shutdown without pay. Among that list, border patrol agents — including those in neighbouring Detroit, MI.
In fact, a great majority of workers in the U.S. are mandatory employees, leaving 800,000 working without pay. This has caused great stress on the U.S. economy and workers report feeling desperate. Canada’s border patrol sympathized with their closest neighbours.
What better way to show support but through the gift of Windsor pizza, which is exactly what they offered.
Windsor patrol officers delivered Antonio’s Pizza – large saucers done “Windsor style” with classic shredded pepperoni.
