Windsor citizens can look forward to $1.5-million worth of lights going up at Jackson Park.

It’s a controversial legacy project that Mayor Drew Dilkens hopes will leave people wowed.

The mayor scaled back the cost from $3-million after complaints from the public.

The plan includes wrapping hundreds of trees with thousands of lights along the paved pathway.

An 18-metre tree with lights will be in in the sunken gardens surrounded with decorations.

City staff also suggested a large display with reindeer and a Santa sleigh.

An opening lighting ceremony is planned for Dec. 8 at 6:30 p.m.

The light display will be up until Jan. 7.
