Windsor Endowment For The Arts celebrates new home in Walkerville

The Windsor Endowment for the Arts unveiled its new home in Walkerville with a celebration of music, song, art, and dance.
The organization, which has been supporting and promoting local artists since 2001, moved into the Sho Art, Spirit and Performance Studio on Monmouth Road in October. WEA President Carolyn Rourke said it is the organization’s first office in 20 years.
“It’s an exciting space,” said Rourke at the organization’s annual general meeting. “It’s an arts hub in Walkerville.”
The group recently purchased a new Steinway piano, which will be made available for community use. Pianists played for members of the public, who toured the new space and mingled with local artists.
The endowment gave out $29,000 in funding in May to community artists and plans on having a fundraising gala in 2019.
“Without organizations like WEA, arts in the community would be so much less than what it is,” said artist Eric Branget.
“They provide a platform, finances, and support through the community to make so many variations of art possible. The organization promotes the spirit of cross-collaboration.”
