After battling with the burning building for over 20 hours, Windsor Fire and Rescue Services were finally able to extinguish the fire on Argyle Road.

Firefighters had been at the scene since around 11:30 Wednesday morning and finally announced the fire to be out around 7:30 a.m. the following day. Windsor Fire was on Twitter throughout the entire process to keep the community updated and informed.

The building located near Ottawa Street and Walker Road was described as a warehouse with offices. The thick black smoke coming from the fire could be seen by eyewitnesses from kilometres away, according to Twitter and Facebook posts from across Windsor and Detroit.

The building at 1370 Argyle Rd. used to be home to a health supplement manufacturer called Gelcell Capsules Ltd.

Windsor Fire and Rescue Services said over the course of the incident, there were nine fire trucks at the scene and a total of around 60 personnel staff.

Investigations are currently underway to find the cause of the fire, but investigators believe the fire started on the north side of the building where renovation work was taking place.
