Windsor Fire urging people to be their own hero with fire rescue plan
It’s Fire Prevention Week in Windsor, and Windsor Fire and Rescue Services (WFRS) are putting a superhero spin on the regular event with the theme of “Not every hero wears a cape.”
WFRS wants people to plan and practice their escape routes in the event of a house fire.
Fire Prevention Week will be celebrated with truck tours and gear demonstration presented by firefighters. Attendees can also enjoy a barbecue at Stan Ribee Parkette.
The service will be hosting an open house on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. to educate people on fire prevention, giving the community an opportunity to meet firefighters and discuss the importance of fire escape plans and other fire-related concerns.
Fire Prevention Week runs from Oct. 6 to 12.
