Windsor municipal lands listed for development
The City of Windsor made a list of municipal lands identified to be shovel-ready for development.
As Windsor is going through a rapid period of expansion and greater housing needs, “Housing Solutions Made for Windsor” initiative takes place to increase the housing supply. To meet the province’s housing targets inside the city, the City Council has reaffirmed its support for targeted intensification.
“Windsorites deserve housing solutions made for Windsor,” said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens. “The City and City Council remain focused on innovative local solutions that will do our part to increase the supply of housing for residents while helping the province and country address a national housing crisis.”
Former Lowe Secondary School site, Caron Avenue Parking Lot, Pelissier Street Parking Lot and Roseland Clubhouse &Parking Lot are the sites identified for development.
To ensure any development carried out during this process complements and respects the probity of established neighborhoods and the quality of life for residents and, in some cases, providing amenities to surrounding areas of the community, Mayor Dilkens and City Council remain committed to the essential public consultation.
The four listed properties are the initial residential development sites that the City administration will move ahead with.
To pick out more opportunities to support required housing needs in the community, the City will review other available municipal lands.
