Windsor Police Inspector Ed Armstrong has been temporarily demoted effective immediately as of Feb 12.

Armstrong was reported to have engaged in acts of unprofessional conduct towards female Windsor Police Service members between 2005 and 2023.

According to a press release made by Windsor Police, the conduct included unwanted comments and text messages, sometimes of sexual nature, as well as unwanted interactions with female coworkers.

Armstrong made an appearance during Wednesday’s virtual hearing, but further details of the allegation were not revealed.

Police said the allegations of misconduct surfaced last year, and a request was subsequently made to Peel Regional Police to conduct a comprehensive investigation to ensure a transparent and impartial process.

Armstrong, a member of the Windsor Police Service since 1998, has been reassigned to alternate duties pending the outcome of the PSA proceedings.

Before the tribunal, the Windsor Police Service will not comment or release further information at this time.

Inspector Armstrong is a 25-year police veteran and has no previous record of formal discipline.
