Windsor police looking for suspected thief after assault
The Windsor Police Service Major Crime Branch is looking to identify a male suspect who sexually assaulted a sleeping occupant after breaking into their home.
Around 5:00 a.m. on Oct. 24, police said a male suspect entered a residence in the area of Windermere Road and Cataraqui Street while the occupants of the home were asleep.
Police believe the man entered the residence several times and took items from the residence before entering an adult woman’s bedroom and touching her inappropriately. When the woman woke up, the suspected man fled the residence on foot.
It is believed the same man also broke into a home in the 1100 block of Chilver Road around 6:30 a.m. the same day. The suspect ran from the residence on foot after being caught by an adult female resident.
According to police, the suspect is a black male in his mid-20s, with dark coloured hair and a beard. At the time of the assault, police said he was wearing a zippered grey hoodie with camouflaged print on it, and white shoes.
