Windsor Regiment holds parade, awards ceremony

The Windsor Regiment had a parade Oct. 4 for the past commanding officers and regimental sergeant majors followed by distribution of awards and the welcoming of their new honourary Lieutenant Colonel.
Honourary Lt.-Col. Donald Hearn had been in his position for 14 years before signing in new Lt.-Col. Peter Thomas with Honourary Col. Roger Lindsay as a witness.
Retired Capt. Ellis Landale, decorated with medals symbolizing his 32 years in the regiment, was the master of ceremony and said this event produces pride and for some, the awards can symbolize the beginning marker of a career.
“When you look back, and see who else won these awards, frequently it will be the Lieutenant-Colonel, or the regimental Sergeant-Major that once upon a time won the same award that you did. You feel so much pride,” said Landale. “There was one presentation of the Canadian Forces Decoration tonight, which stands for 12 years of service.”
