Windsor Regional Hospital Grateful for Do Good Divas

A not for profit organization has been raising money and donating it for the Windsor Regional Hospital.
Do Good Divas is an organization that has been around since 2007 and has donated over $100,000 to the Windsor Regional Hospital. The money has been used to refurbish lounges and certain equipment.
“The government does not fund refurbishing or equipment,” said Vice President, Ron Foster. “Their last project supported the refurbishing the lounges. Previously the fundraiser supported of the refurbishing the facility along with supporting physiotherapy.”
Do Good Divas has grown and become a group that has gained popularity among people in the community over the years. They rely on sponsorships from the community for their fundraisers.
“We have great supports from our local businesses. We have a giant raffle table that people buy tickets for that have things like a patio set or a wine fridge full of wine,” said the vice president of Do Good Divas, Lucy Fanson. “Then we have people that donate handbags anywhere from retailers to supporters in the city who give us wonderful handbags.”
The Do Good Divas donate to the Windsor Regional Hospital because Fanson said they are “hands on.”
“When we put it out there that we were doing this many hospitals and organizations approached us and the hospitals just stood out,” said Fanson. “You’d be surprised with what the government funds and doesn’t fund and we have always been an organization where we just don’t sign a cheque, we want to touch something. So everything that we have done has our handprint on it. We are more into a hands on type of giving than giving out a cheque.”
Foster says that the Do Good Divas do the fundraising because it is something they enjoy.
“It is something that they like to do, they add comfort and ease for patients and their families. They support the cost of refurbishing,” said Foster.
Their fundraisers such as A Girls Night Out in Handbag Heaven, a fundraiser that does a silent auction for donated handbags, had over 1,000 people show up this year. Do Good Divas have donated over $100,000 to Windsor Regional Hospital and Foster said that he is grateful for it.
“We name the rooms after them. They are called Do Good Divas lounges on behalf of their donation. We are very appreciative and generous for the donation they provide,” said Foster.
