Dozens of generous cyclists rode stationary bikes in Windsor recently to raise money in the battle against Diabetes.

They joined more than 600 people across the country in the Revolution Ride to Defeat Diabetes sponsored by Sun Life Financial and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Twenty-three teams in Windsor, including families, businesses, corporations, and banks, raised $4,504.

Katie Corchis, fundraising coordinator for JRDF Canada in Windsor, was grateful so many volunteers came out.

“Ultimately, we also sponsor research into finding a treatment, therapies and prevention therapies,” said Corchis. “Our goal is to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes to have their absolute best life.”

More than 300,000 Canadians are living with Type 1 Diabetes.

Organizers hope the pedal power of volunteers across the country will help lower that number.

Here’s a list of the top local teams and the funds they raised:

TD Wealth $766.00
TD Planners $676.50
Team Kristin and Taylor $612.00
TD Commercial $611.00
BMO Riders $598.50
Shannon Cerio $625.00
Jeff Saddy $240.00
Janis Saddy$222.00
Lori Seguin $211.50
Martha St.Germain $191.50
