Windsor Rotarians ‘Pig Out For Polio’
The Rotary Club of Windsor held its annual Pigout For Polio last week at the Fogolar Furlan Club.
They joined Rotarians around the world to raise funds and awareness in the fight to eradicate polio – a preventable disease that still threatens children across the world.
Polio cases across the globe have plummeted by more than 99.9 percent, from about 350,000 incidents a year to just 22 in 2017.
“Three countries still fight polio: Nigeria, Pakistan and Afghanistan,” said Susan Falodun, a member of Rotary Club Windsor (1918). “India has been declared polio-free since 2014.”
Rotary clubs have committed to raising US$50 million per year to continue the fight against the disease.
