Windsor unemployment rate third highest in Canada
The City of Windsor now has the third highest unemployment rate in Canada.
According to Statistics Canada, the jobless rate moved to seven per cent in November, up 0.3 per cent from October.
According to Stats Canada, 71,200 jobs were lost in the national economy last month. The unemployment rate rose to 5.9 per cent compared to 5.5 per cent in October.
Both full-time and part-time employment moved lower, causing a loss of jobs. The number of full-time jobs fell by 38,400, while part-time employment fell by 32,800.
The MediaPlex reached out to the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce regarding the influencing factors of the unemployment rate but could not reach them for comment.
