Windsor’s Chinese Community comes together to celebrate the Lunar Spring Festival
A lunar Spring Festival gala will be held at the Windsor Chinese Alliance Church this Sunday, Feb. 18. The gala is divided into two parts: dinner and performance.
This party will invite Chinese from Canada to share dinner together and celebrate the happy occasion together.
The show will include singing, dancing, dialogue and sketches.
“So I’m really looking forward to what this gala be this year. It takes some time …(to prepare for the event) … and (I am) happy to see all the workers, all the brothers and sisters putting their efforts on this coming up event,” said performer Echo He.
Asked if He will miss family members back home in China during the Spring Festival, the answer was simple.
“Well, to be honest, I don’t really miss my hometown very much. Because I have a lot of friends and some special sisters and brothers who could help me here. So in church, not matter, especially in my real life they’re always help(ing) me. It feels good, and it feels warm,” Echo He said.
There have been other celebrations this weekend as well. Two Chinese cultural groups held separate galas — one at the Ciociaro Club of Windsor and one at the St. Clair Centre for the Arts.
