Windsor’s Fall Wedding Show
by Sarah Ryrie
The 22nd annual Fall Wedding Event took place at the Caboto Club Sept. 18.
The event is the largest of its kind in Windsor. Over 100 wedding vendors and retailers were at the event to help couples plan every aspect of their wedding day.
Nancy Campana, an independent corporate event planner and owner of Nouveau Events, puts on the show each year. The event is the warm up party for the Wedding Extravaganza Show in January. This event is held for couples who are getting married in 2014 and want to get all the details finished for their wedding before Christmas.
Between 400-500 couples attended and brought mothers, fathers, bridesmaids and groomsmen bringing the total over 1000-1500 people. The event was two evenings and consisted of two fashion shows with different retailers in each show which lasted about 15-20 minutes each.
“We will start planning next year’s show the day after the event is done,” said Campana. “We will start booking booth spaces and then we work on our wedding shows every day all year long, this is a full-time job. We take planning these events very seriously.”
“In January we’re launching a brand new campaign called Get Married in Windsor-Essex,” said Campana. “We’re going to start pulling Toronto couples to Windsor to look at this market to get married because like retiring here, it is a lot less expensive to get married here.”
Over 100 business’s came out to this year’s Show and they expect a large turnout for their January Show as well. Many vendors were there with the things they offer including photo booths, cupcakes and music.
Andrew Corbett, owner of Corbett Productions, said it’s a great opportunity for brides and grooms to be able explore the different services at the wedding show that are available for their big day.
“It allows them to meet a number of vendors that provide the same service so you get a feel for who you are comfortable working with,” said Corbett.
There are five different themed wedding rooms at the event including the Outdoor Emporium. The themed rooms give the brides and grooms lots of ideas for their wedding and tweak their imaginations.
Erika Corey, a model at the wedding show, said attending wedding shows are extremely beneficial to future brides and grooms.
“Not only is it extremely beneficial to upcoming brides and grooms because it lets them view the many possible options and styles that they can incorporate into their weddings,” said Corey. “It adds some fun to planning a wedding and takes some of the stress off.”
The January Wedding Show will take place January 18 and 19 where they will launch their Get Married in Windsor Campaign.
