Windsor’s Walk for freedom raises awareness about human trafficking
Windsorites joined the Walk for Freedom of Windsor-Essex County recently to raise awareness about human trafficking.
More than 100 people walked silently in a single line from Dieppe Gardens to the Ambassador Bridge and back.
Participants, including children walking with their parents, wore shirts with the message: “Abolish Slavery with Each Step.”
The goal of the walk was to raise awareness about slavery in the community and around the world. Each participant tried to raise at least $100 for A21, a non-profit, non-governmental organization that works to fight human trafficking.
The walk featured many local agencies and community partners that serve to combat human trafficking.
Walk for Freedom is a global fundraising and awareness event. Thousands of marchers took millions of steps in hundreds of cities all over the world
The Windsor walk started at 10 a.m. and lasted to noon.
